State-of-the-Art DCC5 Neo Midwoofer

At the core of the Børresen Center3 lies the DCC5 Neo 5″ midwoofer—an advanced transducer engineered to minimize distortion and preserve the integrity of the audio signal. Its motor system utilizes powerful neodymium magnets combined with double copper caps, significantly reducing inductance and ensuring stable, linear behavior across its operating range.

The diaphragm is constructed as a three-layer composite: a Nomex honeycomb core sandwiched between carbon-fiber skins, reinforced with graphene and boron-infused epoxy. This structure delivers exceptional stiffness with extremely low mass, effectively suppressing unwanted resonances and mechanical noise.

By pushing natural resonances far beyond the driver’s operating range, the DCC5 Neo enables a cleaner midrange, improved transparency, and a more effortless and open presentation—critical for both music and dialogue reproduction.

Børresen RP94 Ribbon Tweeter

The Center3 features Børresen’s signature RP94 ribbon tweeter, shared with the higher-tier M and T series. With an ultra-low moving mass of just 0.01 grams, the tweeter reacts with exceptional speed, capturing the finest micro-details and transient information with precision.

Operating from 2.5 kHz and above, it delivers high efficiency and remarkable linearity, even during demanding dynamic passages. Its robust yet lightweight construction ensures stability at extreme temperatures and sound pressure levels, allowing it to reproduce delicate nuances without distortion.

The result is a highly resolved and natural high-frequency presentation that enhances spatial definition, air, and realism—essential for both music and cinematic soundscapes.

Serial Crossover Topology

Unlike conventional parallel crossovers, the Børresen Center3 employs a serial crossover design, allowing a phase-locked electrical current to flow through the drivers within the crossover region. This approach ensures a more coherent interaction between the drivers, improving timing and tonal integration.

The Center3 is designed as a true two-way system, avoiding the phase inconsistencies often introduced by more complex multi-way configurations. Combined with the drivers’ extended natural bandwidth, this allows for a simpler crossover implementation with fewer components.

The result is improved phase integrity, enhanced midrange clarity, and a seamless transition between frequencies—contributing to a more natural and unified listening experience.

Advanced Cabinet Construction

The enclosure of the Børresen Center3 is engineered to provide a stable, resonance-free environment for the drivers. Constructed from thick hardwood laminates with excellent self-damping properties, the cabinet suppresses unwanted vibrations at the source.

Internally, strategically placed supports increase rigidity while guiding airflow to reduce standing waves and internal energy storage. Each driver operates within its own carefully controlled acoustic space, minimizing interference and compression.

This approach ensures that the cabinet does not contribute coloration to the sound, preserving clarity, tonal balance, and spatial accuracy—while maintaining a refined and discreet visual presence.

Mechanical Grounding and Resonance Control

To achieve maximum clarity and precision, the Børresen Center3 incorporates an advanced mechanical grounding system. The system is supported by Ansuz Darkz Feet, which effectively dissipate unwanted vibrations and prevent mechanical energy from affecting the performance of the drivers. This minimizes noise and enhances resolution, focus, and micro-dynamics.
